As my handle here on Jalopnik states, I have, for the last 10 years driven a Jaguar X-Type Manual, well after 10 years of faithful service and somewhere north of 200,000 miles (The computer reset the mileage to 180,000 somewhere around the 205,000 mile mark) I have decided to quit throwing money into it and to stop chasing vacuum leaks. So now what do I do with a beloved car the dealership did not even want in trade? It is flat worn out, needs work and comes with a box full of parts to fix 90% of its problems. I would love suggestions.

Oh and the faithful steeds replacement

Kinja'd!!!

Yes ladies and gentlemen that is a 2011 BMW 535i with a 6 speed Manual and only 28,000. Why buy a Honda Accord when you can have this instead?

Fix the 90% while making detailed posts about it on Oppo then list it on cragislist.

Beautiful choice for a replacement! Did you get the extended warranty? Well worth $2k.

And as for what to do with the jag? Rally car of course. Strip and gut it, install cage, get another motor, some wheels, and go throw some dirt on her!

Believe me this has crossed my mind, however 2 things prevent it, no tow vehicle and vehicle storage issues.

The remaining factory warranty is good until August, I'm going to shop around and buy one in a month or 2. I bought this at a Nissan Dealer who had it on their lost since September. I got it for less than they paid at auction.

Vacuum leaks sound awful. Such a power robbery. You need that BMW you have pictured.

I had only one chance to ride in a X-Type. A friend's brother chauffeured me around eastern Europe in one. It was, for a time, my second favorite Ford Fusion, after the 2010-2012 model, but quickly slipped to the number three spot after the 2013 Model was unveiled. (totally kidding of course)

I think 2011 was the only year for that, at least I didn't see any 2012s and up 535is with that option. I did see a few 2012 550is with a stick but I didn't want to feed the V8.

28k sounds like an amazing deal for it. You can try to get it CPO certified. No idea on cost, but that will at least get you the 100k mile warranty. Then you could always spring for the maintenance plan as well. Both have been well worth it on my 2008 E90 335i, and now i have to fend for myself since both ran out...

That Straight 6 pulls like a freight train on the highway, it is comfortable and has plenty of power. I determined on the way home I would lose my license in an M5 very quickly this thing is fast on its own.

Who says you have to tow it out? Drive it there. If it dies, that's the end of it. It's a short term rally car because for some reason, I don't see an X-Type lasting for too long. Also, since it's a rally jag now, it doesn't have to look good. Just park it somewhere and let the birds shit on it.

As for the Jag. With that kind of mileage, you can always donate it and reap the tax benefits. That's what my brother did with his Camry.

LeMons. It is the only way. Put a big dorsal fin on it like the D-types, and use what life it has left racing like a Sir. It's a rolling Viking burial.

You need to change your screen name to "My N54 does too have real turbos!" :)

My TL is coming off lease in April and I'm looking at 135 or 335i coupe. Something CPO so I can buy it outright...because track days. Your new 535 is exactly what I'd be looking for if I wanted another larger sedan. Perfect color combo as well!

I had a little electrical problem, when I got it sorted out the mileage was lower. I don't know, I'll just market it as actual miles unknown, at this point who cares what the mileage is.

I feel like these '00s Jags are basically the Malaise Luxobarges of today. They're mostly all cheap high-mileage beaters, for sale by their 5th owner, running on borrowed time, inadvertently living up to the reputation that they tried so hard to shake. As such, they sit in sketchy wholesale auctions and buy-here-pay-here lots, alone and unwanted.

Great, I accidentally shamed myself into wanting one :/
